Bluefin tapping into 'sentimental' drivers to lure talent

Providing complete clarity around career paths is one of the best ways to attract and retain talent, Bluefin Resources' people and culture manager says in the wake of the agency's 'best place to work' recognition.

Ensuring candidates and employees have a clear view of their career path is a key pillar of reward and recognition at Bluefin, says people and culture manager Jack Pattra McLean.

This has become particularly critical recently, as more and more candidates are "asking questions about the culture of reward and recognition", especially in industries where roles are similar between employers, such as in the banking sector, he told a recent WrkPlus event.

"At Bluefin in our sales team, we actually mandate promotions based on performance and living our values. That means that if your performance is at a certain level for a period of time, we promote you say from an account manager to a senior account manager, if you've lived our values as well."

McLean says this approach to career paths is well-received by prospective and existing employees...
