Reputations on the line amid short-sighted responses to "brutal" market

With employers now offering higher fees to secure much-needed talent, some "short-sighted" recruiters are putting their agency reputations and long-term client relationships at risk, according to FutureYou managing director Emily Wilson.

"Our clients are saying that it's the toughest, most brutal talent market they've seen," she tells Shortlist.

Exacerbating the issue for employers are those recruitment firms that are "being very short-sighted", and preferencing organisations that are paying higher fees, regardless of existing relationships, Wilson says.

"Recruiters can get a really bad reputation in a high demand job market, and we are avoiding that, and really basing it on relationships and the value we have on partnerships...
