Agency fees rising as time to fill contracts; In-house recruiters lagging

Recruitment agency fees have been on a "small but steady" incline over the past year, reflecting faster fill times and more proactive sourcing methods, according to new placement data from JobAdder.

Australian agency recruiters created an average of 62.05 new jobs in the three months to December (Q4), which is down slightly from 64.71 in Q3 (and 65.41 in Q2), but nonetheless a "significant" year-on-year increase (from 47.99 average jobs).

There was less fluctuation for in-house recruiters, meanwhile, as average jobs in Q4 increased to 53.08 compared to 51.82 in the previous quarter.

Agency recruiters also saw a steady decline in the average number of applications per job, falling to 12.76 in Q4. There was a similar decline in applications per job for in-house recruiters, although they remain higher than for agency recruiters.
