Aldi proposing "repugnant" labour hire terms in EA: union

Supermarket chain Aldi is attempting to avoid the new 'same job, same pay' laws by including "repugnant" terms in a proposed enterprise agreement, a union is arguing.

Aldi is in the process of seeking approval of its Derrimut enterprise agreement, but the Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association (SDA) is urging the Fair Work Commission to reject it.

The SDA specifically objects to clauses that say Aldi will not employ casuals under the schedule, but that the terms and conditions of employment set out there would apply to labour hire workers in the event that a regulated labour hire arrangement order – a 'same job, same pay' order – is made...
