ANZ delays job figures, has the market hit a "pivot point"?

In an unprecedented move, ANZ has delayed the release of its job ad figures by a month, fuelling speculation that the numbers are particularly poor and warrant further investigation.

The figures were scheduled to be released at 1130 this morning, but the ANZ has since updated its website to say they'll be announced in December.

This is "most unusual", according to employment data scientist and Hro2 Research director Bob Olivier.

It might suggest the numbers are particularly poor and that more time is needed to prepare the right messaging, given the ANZ Job Ad Series is a very well-recognised and respected index, and the "financial markets pay attention"...
