Australia is now a key talent market for organisations hiring remotely from overseas or expanding their businesses into new geographies, a specialist says.
It's unsurprising that Globalization Partners, which takes care of payroll and compliance matters so employers can access global talent, experienced growth during the pandemic, Asia Pacific GM Charlie Ferguson tells Shortlist.
"Coming out of (let's assume) the height of pandemic, we anticipated the model would slow down," Ferguson says. But thanks to Australia's low unemployment rate and talent shortages, for many businesses it's more been a case of, "we've adopted the concept, now we actually really need it".
The fact overseas companies can hire Australian talent, without having to come here or set up an entity and a structure, presents "a really cool opportunity for Australia to elevate its position globally", and is creating "all kinds of new and unique opportunities" for all kinds of candidates, he adds...
