Contracting exclusion is "no fix" to Closing Loopholes Bill problems

Contracting businesses are now set to be excluded from proposed 'same job, same pay' laws, but the staffing sector impact remains unclear.

The Australian Resources and Energy Employer Association today announced it had negotiated a carve-out from the Closing Loopholes Bill, meaning "contracting businesses delivering services to resources, energy and all other sectors of the Australian economy will be exempt from proposed new labour hire regulation".

This means under the amended Bill, the Fair Work Commission will be unable to make a labour hire pay order in cases where the business is providing a service to a client, rather than supplying labour, AREEA CEO Steve Knott says...
