"Danger signs" evident as hiring demand slows

New ATS data shows the extent of the recent dip in hiring demand, which should serve as a warning to recruitment leaders and prompt some key actions, according to industry advisor Greg Savage.

According to JobAdder data, its agency users in Australia created 58.9 jobs on average in the December quarter of 2022, down from 66.3 in September, and from 62.1 in December 2021.

New Zealand was a similar story, with steady growth through most of the year, before plunging in Q4.

The change isn't cause for alarm, however, rather it's "just a correction", Savage says. "The test will be the first six months of 2023...
