Discriminatory hiring still rife; recruiters urged to "zoom out" to spot bias

Despite between 70% and 80% of hiring managers reporting confidence in their ability to present diverse candidate shortlists, diversity gains in hiring remain negligible, according to talent consultancy TQ Solutions.

TQ Solutions people science principal, Emma Gibbons, points to a recent Australian study that used 12,000 identical resumes to apply for roles, while changing only the candidate name, which found that applicants with ethnic names were 57% less likely to be considered for leadership roles and 45% less likely for non-leadership positions.
