Employment services overhaul flagged; APS recruitment surges

A Parliamentary committee has recommended sweeping changes to the way employment services are delivered in Australia, including a shift away from the privatised model. Meanwhile, recruiters working with Federal Government departments benefitted from a record growth surge in the public service in FY23.

The Labor-dominated committee inquiring into Workforce Australia recommended the Government establish a new entity within the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, to be known as Employment Services Australia, to provide a range of core services to jobseekers.
