'Equity' offers abound in battle for recruitment talent

There's now heightened interest from recruitment companies in employee share schemes, but also much confusion about what these actually entail, a business advisor says.

In the current market, where attracting and retaining staff is a top challenge, equity is a term that "gets thrown around a lot", says William Buck NSW business advisory director Cameron Martin.

In a recent Shortlist interview, for example, U&U MD Craig Sneesby commented that his staff are often targeted by other agencies with offers of "equity", and he notes "[that word] would have to be the loosest term used in recruitment right now"...
