Final verdict for Plutus Payroll syndicate; solicitor's role unveiled

A jury has delivered the final verdict involving the Plutus Payroll syndicate that allegedly committed tax fraud amounting to more than $100 million. Meanwhile, a non-publication order regarding a solicitor connected to the scam has been lifted.

Patrick Willmott was yesterday found guilty – following the same verdicts handed down on 13 March for Lauren Cranston, and the prior week for her brother Adam Cranston; Sydney lawyer Dev Menon; and Jason Onley, the managing director of a finance consultancy – of conspiring to defraud the Commonwealth, and dealing with proceeds of crime.
