Grad recruitment becoming more "future-focused"

Graduate recruitment programs have entered a "recovery" phase, with employers reviewing their processes and digging deeper to provide a better candidate experience.

"We've had a few years of, 'let's just try and do what we can'... We're now seeing a recovery," says SHL talent practice director Samantha Hickey.

Employers are starting to shift from "how do we manage this best under the circumstances" to a more "future-focused" approach, Hickey tells Shortlist.

"We're starting to have more conversations about, 'we're reviewing our process', and more conversations about, 'how do we shift the candidate experience'. That's not unfamiliar. They were the kinds of conversations we were having in 2019. They're back!"

A point of concern, however, is that some organisations are leaving their review process too late...
