"Granular detail" critical in FY23 budgets: advisor

Most recruitment leaders have a basic budget for their company, but far fewer understand the sort of "granular detail" that will enable quick pivots when the market turns, an advisor says.

While the rest of this calendar year looks strong, when the market turns it will do so "quickly" and completely change, says advisor and William Buck director Cameron Martin.

"My gut feel is that this [market] is not going to continue forever, so you need to have a framework that if it turns, you can quickly reset and reforecast," he tells Shortlist.

If leaders have a good budget in place, they can "stress test it" by stripping out accounts and people and look at where their costs are right now, says Martin.

"For a lot of people, as their businesses have grown, their costs have grown and you just want to make sure if things turn quickly you know the drivers and can make changes quickly," he adds...
