"Joined-up" tertiary system would tackle skills shortage: JSA

To address Australia's persistent skill shortages the Federal Government will prioritise the development of a more "joined-up" tertiary education system that enhances the employability of both VET and higher education graduates, according to its inaugural Jobs and Skills Report.

The report, released by Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA) yesterday, analyses Australia's current, emerging, and future skills needs, and lays the groundwork for a national jobs and skills roadmap to be developed over the coming year.

JSA's analysis of current skills shortages, reported earlier today, shows that 36% of occupations assessed were in national shortage in 2023, up five percentage points compared to 2022...
