Lawyer urges rethink on recruitment guarantee terms

The current market is an opportune time for agency leaders to rethink the concept of recruitment 'guarantees', or at least tighten up their contract clauses to minimise undesirable risks, a lawyer says.

Ready Set Recruit Legal founder Martin Richardson says he's receiving more calls than ever before about this topic.

These are mostly "reactive" where clients are disputing the terms, often to demand refunds rather than replacements.

What it indicates is that contract clauses lack clarity, he says. (It doesn't necessarily mean that more placements are falling out, though this will be an area to watch, he adds.)

Given market conditions and the talent crunch, recruiters now have an "opportunity" to step back and evaluate what's right for their business, Richardson tells Shortlist...
