Legislative change aside, it's time to rethink privacy

A major project is underway to consider how to improve recruitment privacy standards in Australia, led by two experienced industry advisors.

Certex International founder and MD Dianne Gibert says she and RCSA life fellow Andrew Wood recently decided to join forces and consider how legal reform in the privacy space might impact the recruitment sector.

They've since developed the Recruiters Research Log to document their findings, with a view to adding other areas of research in the future, and have held their first roundtable discussion.

The actual reforms the government develops will be one element to consider, but some of the consequences that flow from them will be relevant too, Gibert says. "It might not be the reform itself that makes the changes, but it may well be the improved knowledge and understanding and the broader awareness of what privacy is all about..."
