Leveraging networks and databases a "key theme" for foreseeable future

The need for recruiters to mine and leverage their own networks will be the "key theme" throughout this year and well into 2023, recruitment leaders say.

It's become absolutely critical to have strong candidate networks that can be tapped into as necessary, says RGF Staffing APEJ regional CEO Peter Acheson, given employers' climbing demand for talent while the number of candidates applying through ads is declining.

"So leveraging our own networks is becoming the key," and this includes candidates in the database, word-of-mouth referrals and candidates that may have worked for the organisation previously.

"We're more dependent and more reliant on our own network," Acheson tells Shortlist, noting that RGF has "always had a strong discipline about making sure that every person who applies for a role, irrespective of which channel used, ends up in our database".
