Long-running Hays class action grinding to a close

Hays has offered up to $1.3 million to settle the long-running class action brought against it by a group of on-hire coal miners.

The Federal Court will hear an application later this month for a proposed final settlement in the case, which has been in mediation since last year.

Yesterday Federal Court Justice Bernard Murphy ordered Adero Law, which brought the action on behalf of the miners, to prepare a draft notice for registered members of the class informing them of the likely final settlement...
