Migration reforms give employers a "fighting chance" in global talent war

Employers are expressing overwhelmingly positive responses to skilled migration reform proposals, while warning "the devil will be in the detail".

As reported yesterday, the Federal Government has released a draft strategy to overhaul the system, in response to a review that found it is "broken", "crazily complex" and "not fit for purpose".

APSCo Australia MD Lesley Horsburgh says it is encouraging to see a move towards a more straightforward system, having held numerous consultations with the Government to voice recruiter's concerns.

"[APSCo] cannot highlight enough how critical it is that the Government begins to cut through the layers of red tape that have become the Achilles heel of Australia's ability to attract talent," she tells Shortlist...
