More clarity needed around labour mobility changes

The Australian and UK governments have made some welcome changes to immigration rules recently, but key questions are yet to be answered, says People2people group managing director Mark Smith.

From 31 January 2024, the UK Youth Mobility visa will allow Australian and NZ citizens aged 18–35 to work and study in the UK for up to three years.

This raises the question of whether three years is long enough for recruiters to promote jobs to these visa holders as "permanent" opportunities, Smith tells Shortlist...
