No more "eating off the buffet" for recruiters in 2023

The start of the year has been like a "brand new world" for recruiters, heralding a turnaround in both client and candidate behaviour, according to industry trainer Sophie Robertson.

Recruiters have returned to work this year to drastically different circumstances, the Younique Coaching director tells Shortlist, with some employers already talking about hiring freezes, and others making redundancies in their talent acquisition teams.

Another sign the market is turning is that internal decision-making is slowing down, rather than clients taking a "dive in" approach, she says.

On the other hand, candidates are being much more responsive, with recruiters saying "people are applying for jobs! And when you call them, they call you back!"...
