Privacy proposals demand tighter data control from recruiters

Recruitment companies could soon face much higher penalties for privacy breaches, and in many cases their data management practices are "not as tight as they should be", a compliance specialist warns.

The Federal Government's recently proposed privacy reforms, outlined in its Privacy Act Review Report, aim to strengthen the control individuals have over their personal information, and the manner in which organisations protect it.
