"Really scary" times ahead for labour hire

The reception given to prominent recruitment leaders in a parliamentary inquiry into 'same job, same pay' laws suggest "scary" times lie ahead for the industry, says RCSA CEO Charles Cameron.

Cameron recently spoke at a committee hearing for the Fair Work Amendment (Equal Pay for Equal Work) Bill 2022, which was introduced by One Nation senator Malcolm Roberts and targets the resources, engineering and aviation sectors.

It's very clear the Bill's objective is to "extinguish" labour hire in those sectors, he tells Shortlist.

And though it's a private member's bill, which is unlikely to pass, Cameron warns it's a precursor to the Labor Government's 'same job, same pay' platform and legislation, expected next year...
