Recruitment demand has "plateaued"; warning signs ahead

Hiring demand has now most likely "plateaued", though it's unclear whether it will decline any time soon; meanwhile cash flow challenges are building, members of a recruitment panel agree.

Commenting that the industry's revenue and profitability has been the strongest many long-term recruiters have ever seen, William Buck director Cameron Martin told a recent Captain's Table forum hosted by Navigator Consulting that the peak has likely been reached.

"I don't know when the peak will end and whether we will see any decline or not," he says, given that finding people and retaining them remains the number-one challenge across most sectors.

And given local interest rate rises and economic data coming from the US, "we do see some of that economic activity start to have a few road bumps", Martin says...
