Recruitment leaders prepare for "silly season" challenges

Just ahead of the silly season, a recruitment leader roundtable has discussed ways to manage conflicts between maintaining profitability and ensuring employee wellbeing.

At last week's Captain's Table event, hosted by MD Tony Hall, attendees discussed the "clutter" overwhelming this year's lead up to Christmas.

The consensus was not to "keep pushing when people want a break", but leaders were divided on the appropriate duration and timing of office closures.

One leader said he always shuts his company down for an entire month over the holiday period, because he wants "everyone coming back feeling fresh and buzzed", while acknowledging that sometimes means not paying staff who haven't accrued enough leave...
