Recruitment leaders stuck in "rigid" hiring mindsets

It's time to reframe recruitment as a "viable career" and rethink the profile of what makes a good recruiter, a training specialist says.

"Collectively, we have to be better at putting recruitment agency employment on the map so far as it being seen as a career of choice," says Career Lasso director Adele Last.

"If you think about industries similar to ours, perhaps like real estate, maybe people don't wake up one day and go, 'I want to be a real estate agent', but it's also seen as a career. People do go, 'that's a job that I understand and I want to try that out', and I don't think people think about recruitment like that."

The staffing sector could improve the general perception of recruitment as a career pathway, and ensure that it's "at least being seen as a profession", Last tells Shortlist...
