Recruitment remains top issue for employers; new hires not staying

Hiring optimism has hit a new peak, with 76% of Australian businesses planning to grow their workforce in 2023, however employers are struggling to retain their new recruits, research shows.

The HR Industry Benchmark Report, from Elmo Software and the Australian Human Resources Institute, has found that among the HR professionals anticipating a change in their workforce, almost half (48%) expect to grow by 11-25%.

More than one third (34%) anticipate an increase of more than 25%, while only 7% expect their workforce numbers to decrease in 2023, and 15% expect to remain the same size...
