'Same pay' Bill creates "series of obstacles" for staffing providers

The RCSA, among numerous parties, has voiced serious concerns about 'same job, same pay' legislation currently being considered by a parliamentary committee.

One Nation senator Malcolm Roberts introduced the Fair Work Amendment (Equal Pay for Equal Work) Bill in February this year. It aims to prevent on-hire workers from being paid less than directly employed workers, and is currently the subject of a Senate committee inquiry.

But a submission lodged by RCSA says the definitions in the Bill would, "in operation, give rise to more questions, issues and errors than they resolve".

"We are concerned this Bill not only fails to strike that balance but creates a series of obstacles for on-hire staffing firms, their workers and their clients, that are extraordinarily difficult to overcome or effectively administer...
