Second job was "detrimental" to employer's interests, dismissal upheld

A recruitment company has defended sacking a team leader for "wilfully" neglecting her duties, obtaining a second job without its knowledge, and lying when confronted about it.

The G-Force Recruitment team leader was tasked with finding opportunities for candidates with disabilities, known as 'participants'. Her role involved meeting with participants in Warrnambool, where she was based, and nearby towns.

In December last year, the team leader's manager and an HR manager met with her to raise concerns that she had: wilfully neglected her duties by failing to attend appointments with participants; falsified records to indicate she had met with participants; falsified timesheets to show she'd attended the office when she'd been absent; and failed to attend the Colac site each Monday as instructed...
