Stemming turnover now a key recruitment feature

Advising employers on how to retain their people has paradoxically become the best way to do more of their recruitment, says Robert Half MD David Jones.

"We try to advise companies how to avoid turnover in the first place – they'll really thank us for that and use us more frequently," he tells Shortlist.

"And if you can help companies keep their very best people, it actually makes hiring for those companies easier."

Right now, though, most employers are worried about losing top talent, and they are becoming increasingly frustrated with recruiters and the industry, Jones says.

"Unfortunately, there's perhaps a number that aren't solutions-focused enough on behalf of the client, and forget the client is paying a fee..."
