"Surprising" lack of movement in recruiter salaries

Despite much "chatter" in the market, senior recruiters' base salaries haven't changed much since before the pandemic. Meanwhile agencies are missing the mark on what will get new recruits through the door, new research shows.

"With all the chitter-chatter in the market, where senior consultants are talking about getting $120k [salaries]... you would assume that's what everyone is now paying," says Hume Scope managing director Ez Khan, who is producing a report on recruiter salaries and benefits with co-founder Laura Hopes.

"But... there is literally one- or two-thousand-dollar variance on each role type, from two-and-a-half years ago, in terms of base salaries.

"Salaries haven't changed, according to our data, which is really surprising. I genuinely thought they'd be at least $10–20k [higher], certainly with senior consultants," he tells Shortlist.

According to Hume Scope's survey, involving more than 300 leaders and consultants, the average senior consultant is on a salary of $89k, plus super, and they have around 5.8 years' experience...
