Temp-desk building falls down with 'set and forget' approach

Many temp and contract recruiters are missing opportunities to build their desk by taking a 'set and forget' approach to their talent, a trainer says.

This is because recruiters are sending contractors out to clients with the mindset "they're yours now", Younique Coaching director Sophie Robertson tells Shortlist.

By looking after them and getting to know them better, however, recruiters increase their loyalty and "can actually become an integral part of the [client's] business", she says – there's a "huge opportunity" to win more work.

"It's like a whole part of recruitment that's kind of missing in their consciousness... and it's not because they're bad at it, it's because they don't know about it," she explains...
