The overlooked event holding back women's work participation

Menopause is a largely unspoken-about event that hinders women's participation in the workforce and must be addressed in workplaces, a recruitment leader says.

Parity Consulting founder Victoria Butt says she became interested in the topic late last year, after noticing patterns of "disengaged individuals" and people who were struggling with work, including "women retiring early or suddenly leaving their jobs for jobs that were potentially less stressful".

"I just thought this was going to be of childbearing years, these women.

"And it turns out that they weren't. It was actually partly due to going through menopause," she tells Shortlist...
