Time to fill reduces but new-hire turnover spikes up

There's been a big increase in the number of new hires who quit within their probation period, according to new research.

One in seven new hires are now leaving in the first six months, which is double the rate prior to the pandemic, HR software company Elmo has found.

(The company surveyed 700 HR professionals in Australia and 500 in New Zealand in January and February.)

Across all job types, staff turnover rate sits at 14% this year, down slightly from last year's 15% and down three percentage points from 2022's post-COVID peak...
