Warning on class actions after casuals, contractor definitions change

The Closing Loopholes legislation has now passed, and a lawyer warns it will herald the return of class actions over 'misclassified' casuals and contractors. Meanwhile, mid-sized recruitment companies without enterprise agreements might struggle to win tenders under the new laws.

The Closing Loopholes No. 2 Bill passed the House of Representatives yesterday, including amendments "rushed" through the Senate last week.

As previously reported, the original Closing Loopholes Bill was split in two, so a trimmed-down version could be passed last year...
